In the 1980s, the first robots in the medical field provided surgical assistance through robotic arm technology. Computer vision and data analytics enabled by artificial intelligence (AI) have transformed medical robots over the years, extending their capabilities to many other areas of healthcare.
With advances in machine learning, data analytics, computer vision, and other technologies, medical robots will evolve to complete tasks autonomously, more efficiently, and more accurately.
Intel is working with technology providers and researchers to explore next-generation robotics solutions. By providing technical and research support, Intel is helping to drive the discovery of new applications for artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies in medical robotics. These contributions support ongoing innovations to increase automation, increase efficiency, and address some of healthcare's biggest challenges
